The sun was setting as Kegeru tucked the last purchase from her errands list into her knapsack. 'That's the last thing for today,' she thought with relief as she glanced up at the setting sun. Unfavourable people hung around the market square after dark sometimes, and Kegeru remembered with a twist in her stomach the last time they had cornered her. But there was no time to think about that! Getting home on time was the important thing. Walking quickly, Kegeru made her way towards the drawbridge.

OOC: Takes place the night before the thread in Lake Hylia.
Link leaned against the wall outside the guard's house next to the draw bridge, and starred up at the setting sun. He held the Ocarina of Time up to his mouth, and played the Scarecrow's Song. He had practiced playing the Ocarina a lot lately, since there wasn't much else for him to do. No dangers, no adventures, hardly anything had been happening lately.

The market had signifigantly quietened by the time Kegeru reached the edge of the market. The flagstones were reflecting the golden light of the setting sun, and the buildings were standing like silent overseers on the old trade route. Many carts and pedestrians had passed this drawbridge before her, and thanks to an unnamed hero, she would not be the last.
Kegeru was snapped form her reverie when the Ocarina's pure, full notes rang in the air. She looked around frantically and spied a solitary youth just as she dropped her knapsack on the ground, spilling her purchases from the day and her purse of rupees.

Link heard a crash, and turned to see a girl about his age scrambling around trying to pick up a few goods that she had dropped. She was a young Gerudo, who (from the distance Link was at) seemed to be about his height. "I'd better help her..." Link thought to himself, as he put his Ocarina away and approached the young woman. "Here...let me help you..." He said, as he picked up a few of the girl's ruppees.

Kegeru looked up and tensed at the sight of a blond Hylian gathering her hard-earned rupees. One side of her was ready to beg him not to steal them and the other was grateful for the help. She glanced curiously at his face as she collected her items, wondering if he was from around Castle Town. Most people would have ignored her completely.

Link handed her the ruppees he had gathered, and then bent down again to pick up a few of the goods that she had dropped. He handed them to her, and then spoke. "Hardly anyone my age is ever out in the market...are you running an errand for your family, or something?"

Kegeru shook her head at the friendly inquiry. "No, I work at the Kakariko Winery. I'm getting some supplies like thread and such on their behalf. I also bought myself some rations - they're cheaper here." She looked the youth over, then asked, "What are you doing here yourself? Most people in these parts aren't very compassionate."

"Sure they are...well, at least I think so, anyway." Link responded. "I'm just hanging out here, at the moment...I'm a bit of a wanderer...an adventurer...I don't have a family or, right now, a job to tie me down. Nothing exciting has really been happening lately, so I've just been relaxing." Link looked at the young girl for a few moments, and thought to himself.
"The eyes...the hair...the jewel...must be a Gerudo."
"Are you from the Valley?" Link asked, in a friendly manner. "The Gerudo Valley?"

Kegeru nodded. "Yeah, I was. But I don't live there anymore. I haven't since the raid on the Castle.... How long ago was that?"

"Quite a while ago." Link responded. "I was a very small child when it happened." Link quickly glanced up at the sky, and then turned to the young Gerudo, again. "You're not planning on going back to Kakariko at this hour, are you? The Stalchildren will be out soon...its not safe to go out into the field at night, unless your armed."

Kegeru smiled wryly and raised her eyebrows. "I don't have much of a choice. I don't have anywhere else to stay, and I can handle myself. I have a dagger."

The girl seemed confident in her ability to defend herself, but Link was still uncertain. "Are you sure?" He asked. "I know a few good places you can stay in the Market."

Kegeru nodded and smiled genuinely this time. "Yeah, I'll be fine. Thank you for your concern, though... What is your name?"

"My name's Link, I'm from the Forest, and an unending guilt would bestow upon me if anything happened to you on your trip back to Kakariko. At least allow me to come with you, and make sure you get there alright."

"Very well, then, Link. My name's Kegeru. Thanks for coming along.," she says, reaching a hand out to shake.
